Two Spirit with Harlan Pruden – UBC TEFA TALKS
The Teacher Education for All! (TEFA) project at UBC hosted Harlan Pruden, a PhD student and First Nations Cree scholar and activist. In his presentation, Pruden shared insights into being Two Spirit and emphasized the importance of an intersectional approach to supporting Indigenous students who are also sexual or gender minorities. TEFA, aimed at fostering an inclusive culture in Teacher Education at UBC, focuses on intersectional methods addressing sexual and gender diversity and strategies to counteract systemic discrimination. Funded by the UBC-ARC Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Fund and UBC’s Equity and Inclusion Office, TEFA is a part of the ARC Foundation’s mission to promote Awareness, Respect, and Capacity for marginalized groups.
