Transgender Day of remembrance – 2024

Today, we observe Transgender Day of Remembrance—a solemn occasion to reflect on the lives lost to anti-transgender violence. This day calls us to remember individuals who were beloved, created in the image of God, and whose dignity was often met with misunderstanding, harm, and hate.

As Christians, God calls us to love fiercely, uphold justice, and advocate for the marginalized. The loss we mourn today is a call to action: to create communities where all are seen, known, and celebrated as they are- communities where we will not remain silent or inactive in the face of violence and oppression.

More than ever, we need to stand with trans and non-binary folk who are facing escalating hate fueled by increasing and intentional disinformation. This IS the work of the gospel. Failure to do so is a betrayal of the love of Jesus.
