Pride & Rest

Pride is a season of action, but it must also be a season of rest. Rest is not weakness. It is resistance. It is how we refuse the lie that our worth is measured by our productivity. It is how we step outside the grind of systems that demand we exhaust ourselves to prove we belong. 2SLGBTQIA+ people have often found ways to claim moments of softness, stillness, and care in a world that too often tries to take them from us. That is sacred work.
Burned-out activists or allies cannot sustain the fight. Burned-out communities cannot build the future we long for. Rest is not what we do after the work is done. It is part of the work. It is how we honour the bodies and spirits that carry us through. It is how we remind each other that we deserve joy, breath, and healing- not only when we win, but along the way. Rest is where we remember who we are beyond struggle.
Today, I invite you to claim a moment of Sabbath. Whatever that looks like for you. A walk. A nap. A deep breath. A prayer. A quiet meal. Pride is not only about showing up in public. It is also about tending to the self that needs gentleness. The fight continues. And so must our care for ourselves and each other.
